Ebba Hallenborg (author of landscape) comes from an old family of counts at the south of Sweden in the area of Skurup, which is not far from Malmoe (they owned magnificent Svaneholm Castle) and they lived there in the last two centuries (almost), she apparently was an amateur artist and was friends with Christine Hoffler and likely took painting lessons from her. Sara Maria Christine Hoffler (1840 - 1923), to whom this painting was gifted, was a Swedish artist. She studied at the Art Academy in Stockholm 1866 - 1872 and then a few years in Paris. She participated in the Art Academy's exhibition in 1875 and with Sweden's general art association in 1885 - 1886 and in the Gothenburg exhibition in 1891. Hoffler is represented at Malmö Museum, Trelleborg Museum and Lund University Art Museum. Antique oil painting on canvas, framed.
