Klaas van Vliet (1841-1917) Visual artist, painter and photographer. As a student of Isaac Arentz, Klaas van Vliet lived and worked in his birthplace, where he practiced the profession of wine merchant and was also a council member for some time. He is regarded as one of the first photographers in the Zaan area, but he became known mainly for his paintings, for which he often chose horses as the subject. Exhibitions of his work have been held in Amsterdam, Arnhem and The Hague. Oil painting on wooden panel.
