18th – 19th century oil icon painting on canvas, framed. John the Baptist (c. 1st century BC – c. AD 30) was a Roman born Judaean mission preacher active in the area of the Jordan River in the early 1st century AD. He is also known as John the Forerunner in Christianity, John the Immerser in some Baptist Christian traditions, and Prophet Yahya in Islam. He is sometimes alternatively referred to as John the Baptiser. This and 2 other similar paintings (see our other auctions) come from the church and was carefully preserved by some nice Believer.
Size app.: 49.6 x 40.2 cm (roughly 19.5 x 15.8 in). Pretty good condition, age usage wear, craquelure, loss of paint, requires care. Please study good resolution images for overall cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 1,5 kg is going to measure some 3 kg packed for shipment.
