The painting depicts European cityscape of the 17th century with dashing guys lurking around the corner waiting for the victim. In this work, the artist perfectly managed to convey the characters, poses and emotions of the main characters. Tension seems to be in the air and transmitted to us. Broad and precise strokes, color depth and perspective... Everything indicates that the painting is painted by highly skilled and gifted artist of last half of 19th century. Signed: "Patri", unidentified presumably French artist.
Size app.: 46.5 x 35.4 cm (roughly 18.3 x 13.9 in). Very Good condition, canvas pasted on pressed paperboard, minor age wear. Please study good resolution images for overall cosmetic condition.
