Pastoral Rustic scene Gallant shepherd and young woman 19th century Oil painting ^Sale

The painting is monogram signed lower right: scratched in fresh oils “C.K.1839”. The genre plot from rural life away from the upheavals of big cities with its traditional elements: a panorama of nature, houses, images of people and animals, was very popular with artists of all periods. On this canvas, we can see how a shepherd returning with a herd (cows, goats, bull) at sunset, showed a gallant appeal to a young woman, letting her go ahead of the herd. The unidentified artist shows good skill in animalist subject here. In the background we see the high Alpine mountains and the ruins of a castle with a tower. Oil painting on canvas, signed, framed.
Size app.: 58.3 x 52.2 cm (roughly 23 x 20.5 in) frame 71 x 63 cm (roughly 28 x 24,8 in). Very Good condition, original canvas (UV-light shows few retouches mostly in the area of balcony and on the hillside below the distant castle).
