Kind of renaissance and baroque style, Capriccio was widely popular in large room wall decoration of castles and palaces, non-binding painting to fill the space. Such paintings, together with tapestries, served as decoration and insulation of the interior. The artist who painted this picture in the 19th century was probably inspired by the works of the old masters of the 17th-18th centuries.
