Professional topographical painter describes distant scenes of European life of the 17th century. In the foreground we see nobles (this can be seen from their expensive clothes): A gentleman riding a horse and a hunting dog scurrying alongside, as well as a lady lady with a maid riding a cart drawn by two horses and horse drovers. Perhaps it is the owners of the castle, which is seen on a hill in the distance, and they travel through their possessions. We will never know... The painter in great detail conveys the rural life of the time: shepherd herding cattle, wine making at winery, walking officials, woodcutter / lumberjack at timber harvesting. No one is idle... especially when noble misters by pass. Culture: Western Europe - perhaps France, Germany, Spain... Period and style: Flemish or Dutch, Baroque
