This time we had good timetravelling throughout Finland browsing several estate sales: came across 2 Russian heritage families with some nice collections of early 19th tomid-20th century items. Here is very rare "lubok" large tole traydecorated with the scene of Cossacks seizing Napoleonic officers at the time ofthe end of Russo-French war of 1812. It was produced by private Russian manufacture in period of 1830-1850 from the motive of engraving shown at picture in description. There is opinion that officer depicted as lady is disguised Napoleon and that's why he had successful escape: drunk Cossacks didn't recognize him and didn't even arrested. Lots of tales and whispers were produced in folklore, butnot much preserved in decorative arts. This is impressive big picture worth museum of local lore attention. There are several on the shameful route.
