Here exquisite is Russian-French exceptional set of clock with candelabra. Solid mercury gilding, beautiful cobalt blue inserts of top quality hand painted porcelain with decorated of cupids, musical instruments and garland. Eclectic (Historism) design with notes of neo-renaissance, neoclassicism and neo-rococo with putto, cherubs, floral, rocaille, parrot, lute and goat motives. Thes set as made by order of F. KNOOP, St. Peterbourg - the supplier of the Russian imperial court (the inscription on clock dial says about it). The clock dial has a delicate and intricate incuse work with porcelain inlays. The movement of the clock is stamped "1844 - 1849 d'Argent Medal, Louis Philippe" and # 1445/41. Very rare awesome timepiece regardless of its present functionality.
The candelabras with two reclining putto, one with garland of flowers and one with a clothes, the bases inset with high-quality hand-painted blue porcelain panels with images of cherubs. A similar clock, slightly larger, were sold for $16,000 (see picture)
