Made in late 19th - early 20th century by famous Japanese Sumida Gawa pottery artisans. Beautiful fine detail work. Made presumably by workshop of Inoue Ryosai (1828 – 1899) who worked at Inuyama Yaki earlier time and later was hired by Matsudaira Settsu No Kami, Takasu Clan, at Edo. He was trained and taught by Takamoto Hayato. In 1866, he opened his own kiln at Asakusa, Imado area. He worked fervently and created his own style of applied figures for vessels with glazed works that were in demand by overseas consumers. He sold many of his works to Kiritsu Shoko Kaisha for exporting.
