Johann August Frederik Carl Lorange (1833 - 1875) was highly skilled Danish artist of German roots. Not much known on his biography, unfortunately, but most of his works were produced in Italy and in Denmark. We suppose this young girl on the portrait related to family of artist. With delicate brushstrokes and intricate details, the artist captures the peaceful essence of a sleeping girl, making this piece a timeless treasure for any art enthusiast. Painting comes from collection of Dr. Ossip Kofman (presumably relative to Boris Pasternak), one of famous art collectors connected with National Art Museum in Stockholm, who has acquired it at Kunsthandler Spardahl, Aabenraa 29 (Copenhagen), wooden panel bears the stamp of Charlottenborg Palace, Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
