Here is likely crab fishing depicted in foreground. Catching crabs is still fraught with danger, so this is reflected in the cost of this delicacy. Centuries ago, this delicacy was available only to the elite. The painter very realistically conveyed the atmosphere of an agitated sea with a strong wind.
