A wonderful military genre scene - "at the Well pole on the march". In this picture, the artist managed to brilliantly depict the emotional mood of the soldiers after a long and exhausting march. The soldiers fight for a bucket of water not only with horses, but to each other... only one grenadier is completely calm and unperturbed to what is happening. This characterize him as a seasoned soldier who has gone through all the hardships of military service. Perfect illustration of late Napoleonic campaign of the middle of Western Europe.
