This almost monochrome sepia picture (so called grisaille) was finely painted in oils by unknown master. Absolutely astonishing in every detail it shows big house resembling castle, little but solid stone bridge and folks busy with laundry by the river. By an unidentified painter of the late 17th – early 18th century. Antique oil painting on paper, framed, unsigned.
Size: 23 x 26.3 cm (roughly 9.1 x 10.4 in), mid - 20th cent. frame 30 x 33.5 cm (roughly 11.8 x 13.2 in). Very Good conserved condition pasted on cardboard and showing 1 insignificant tear lower right next to the bridge. Please study good resolution images for cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment.
