Amazing atmospheric painting of the calm and cozy place by the lake painted ca 1900 by Harriet Ebba von Koch (July 1, 1866 - April 1, 1943), was a Swedish painter. Signed lower right. Oil painting on artistic board.
Size app.: 27 x 39 cm (roughly 10,6 x 15.35 in) and intricate golden gesso frame ca 41 x 52 cm (roughly 16.14 x 20.5 in). Very Good condition, minor wear, tiny losses to frame that we would lightly restore before shipment (just remind me!!!). Please study good resolution images for overall cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Ebba von Koch was the daughter of the author and lieutenant colonel Richert Vogt von Koch and Baroness Agathe Henriette Wrede af Elimä, as well as the sister of Frances Wachtmeister, Helge von Koch, Halfred von Koch and Sigurd von Koch. She studied art under Gustave Courtois and Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret at the Académie Colarossi in Paris in 1888, she returned repeatedly to Paris for self-study and she made study trips to the Netherlands and Italy to study the old masters. She was one of the founders of the Association of Swedish Artists and participated in the association's exhibitions and with the artist group De Frie. Her art consists of figures, landscapes, portraits and still lifes mainly made in oil but also in watercolor and pastel. Ebba von Koch was buried at Norra Cemetery outside Stockholm.
