This antique oil painting on canvas represents a masterfully painted pastoral landscape from the first half of the 19th century and executed in the style of the old masters school. The composition presents an idyllic rural scene with two peasant women and peacefully grazing livestock by a winding river near a small castle nestled among trees, whose architectural accent is a round tower with embrasures. The artist magnificently uses not only atmospheric perspective, carrying our gaze to distant peaks dissolving in gentle blue haze, but also warm green and ochre tones with carefully conceived light effects.
